DAY 10 - Saturday July 15th - The Queen's Lap

Lap of luxury, day two. I am sitting here at this beautiful spot, soaking up the sun by the pool with my double rum and coke in hand (which was a whopping $3), typing my little fingers off and watching the elephants bathe blow in the English channel. African V-I-P.
We woke up at the excruciatingly early hour of 6am to go on another safari. I almost didn’t make it, but luckily we had to just roll out of bed and get on the bus. Turns out we were taking the same route we did yesterday, but had to get up early because the animals feed and then go back into the shade. Unfortunately we were seeing less wildlife than yesterday, so I fell asleep. I got up once to see two lions in the far distance, but it wasn’t as exciting as before, so I wasn’t disappointed because I wasn’t missing anything.
We got back to the lodge a bit late, but still made it for breakfast. It was another all you can eat buffet – eggs, sausage, chipatis with real honey, yogurt and fruit, and pineapple sauce to wash it down. I scarfed up all I could.
After breakfast we piddled around, and I organized my pictures so I could share them with everyone (I know you all are probably tired of just the writing and want to see Africa in action!). Rachael and Whitney decided that because they hadn’t been spending any money, they would splurge on a room at the lodge, so they booked a nice little cabin with a big bed, hot shower and a great view. I didn’t mind the hostels at all, and I was broke, so I washed off a bit before heading to the cantina.
I decided to take a little swim, and even though the water was a bit chilly, it felt soooo good. Man they got the pool down right – great view, raised cabana, and yes, a bar. I felt like I was in Mexico, but way nicer. I skipped out on lunch because the breakfast was so filling, and grabbed my laptop to do some more writing. It doesn’t get much better than this. I am so happy for the R&R, I will need it for next week’s activities. Plus, I’m going to have to rock out my thesis, so this will probably be one of the last good updates for a while.
